A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 287 F or nearly 25 years, John E. Parks has dedicated his career to understanding and managing our oceans. During this time, Mr. Parks has worked with local communities, indigenous leaders, resource users, government agencies, and nongovernmental organizations to implement marine resource management solutions that strengthen environmental and civil security in coastal communities throughout the world. Mr. Parks currently serves as the chief of party of the Oceans and Fisheries Partnership project at Tetra Tech, a U.S. government- funded project in Southeast Asia designed to reduce illegal fishing and promote sustainable fisheries. Before joining Tetra Tech, he founded and operated Marine Management Solutions, LLC, a company that provided international clients with specialized natural resource management and policy solutions relating to fisheries management, marine conservation, and climate change adaptation. Mr. Parks holds certifications in wilderness and remote first aid and scuba diving. Mr. Parks earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in marine science and policy from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami. Prior to joining the private sector, he held staff positions within not-for-profit organizations, including the World Wildlife Fund, the World Resources Institute and The Nature Conservancy. Mr. Parks also served as a federal officer at the National Ocean Service of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration during the George W. Bush presidential administration. He is affiliated with a wide range of organizations, such as the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii, the Association for the Advancement of Science, the Society for Conservation Biology, the Pacific Science Association, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s World Commission on Protected Areas. Mr. Parks has received many awards and accolades throughout the course of his career. He continues to publish his research, most recently relating to marine policy. JOHN E.
