302 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION D edicated to the study of the divine, Dr. C. Corydon “Cory” Randall II understands the importance of his role as a leader in the church. He served as a theologian-in-residence with Christ Church Cranbrook in Bloomfield, Michigan, for 13 years, during which he did his best to emulate what he preached by working to build a strong support network within the community at large. It was his hope that individuals would come together for an idea or project and strive to make a positive impact on the world through their continued involvement with the church. Prior to this position, Dr. Randall held the title of rector with St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Del Mar, California; Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana; and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Richmond, Indiana. After beginning his life in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dr. Randall expressed an early interest in architecture and ministry. He attended the University of Michigan, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1957. Dr. Randall continued his education, completing a Bachelor of Sacred Theology through the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale in 1960. He would later earn a PhD in Hebraic studies through Hebrew Union College in 1969, as well as an honorary Doctor of Divinity from the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale University in 1985. Although he has enjoyed sharing what he has learned through various academic pursuits, Dr. Randall finds the greatest fulfillment in walking people through big experiences, whether they are joyous occasions like weddings or solemn affairs like funerals. In an attempt to make biblical studies more accessible to others, Dr. Randall has authored several works in the field, including “An Approach to Biblical Satire,” published in 1990. Outside of his dedication to the church, Dr. Randall maintains a notable interest in genealogy. As the president of the Detroit Society for Genealogical Research, he was interviewed by one of the genealogists from the Allen County Public Library as someone who had an effect on the Fort Wayne community.
