A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 41 W hile serving as a lieutenant (j.g.) in the U.S. Navy in 1963, Eric Hall Anderson was asked by his captain to teach a writing composition class to volunteer sailors. Although he only had the opportunity to teach four classes prior to his military discharge, the experience propelled him to enter the profession. He served as an instructor at Sly Park Job Corps Center from 1965 to 1967, later becoming a basic education consultant, regional coordinator, consultant for administration and program director. Subsequently, he became a management development specialist for Honeywell Information Systems in 1980, remaining with the corporation until 1986. A senior human resources development specialist for the following three years, he concluded his career as a manufacturing training administrator for Loral InfraRed & Imaging Systems, Inc., and retired from the industry in 1991. Mr. Anderson considers teaching in the Job Corps to be the most rewarding experience of his career and is proud of being able to teach students who had discontinued their high school education how to read. Entering the class not knowing how to read two-letter words, they learned how to read. In recognition of his contribution to education, he received the Founder’s Award from the Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center. Mr. Anderson enjoys volunteering at the Arlington Food Pantry. He is also the co-founder and treasurer of Friends of Spy Pond Park and a class correspondent of Hobart College. The chief class correspondent on the Alumni Council, he was also the treasurer of theMystic River Watershed Association for 20 years. As a testament to his success, he was honored with the Distinguished Service Award for Lifetime Service to Hobart College. Mr. Anderson, who holds a BA fromHobart College, was featured inWho’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in theWorld and Who’s Who in the East.
