56 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION J ohn A. Beranbaum is an experienced attorney with a solid reputation for professional excellence and over 35 years in his field. Serving as a partner of Beranbaum Menken LLP since 1998, Mr. Beranbaum excels in advocating for the rights of employees to work in environments free from discrimination based on sex, gender, age, race or disability. One of the highlights of his career was representing an employee in a racial discrimination case that resulted in a seven-figure verdict. Following in the footsteps of his sister, who is also a lawyer, Mr. Beranbaum pursued a formal education and received a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Yale University in 1977, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence from New York University in 1981. He has been admitted to practice in the states of New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York; the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the District of New Jersey, and the Northern District of Florida; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits; and the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Beranbaum has been a mediator for the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of New York since 1994 and has served on the executive board of the New York section of the National Employment Lawyers Association since 2011. He is also a longstanding member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. An AV-rated attorney through Martindale- Hubbell since 2011, Mr. Beranbaum has been named one of the Best Lawyers in America in Labor and Employment Law every year since 2008 and a Super Lawyer in the New York area every year since 2006.
