To prepare for her successful career, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from Otterbein University and a Master of Arts in education from Bowling Green State University. She has been subsequently continuing her education since 1986, completing postgraduate coursework at The Ohio State University. For a brief period of time in 1996, Ms. Bordelon served as an adjunct instructor in the reading department of the graduate studies program at Ashland University. She credits her success to her many mentors throughout her tenure, including Dr. Nyra Terry, a bright influencer who inspired Ms. Bordelon to become a Reading Recovery teacher. Alongside her professional endeavors, she has been a member of the Royal Scots Highlanders since 1976. In addition, she has served as a deacon of Covenant Presbyterian Church. An author as well as an avid reader, Ms. Bordelon has penned two books, “Octopus Goes to School” and “The Parent Workshop.” She has been honored with several accolades throughout the course of her impressive career, including the State of Ohio Master Teacher Award in 2011.
