A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 81 wasn’t necessary as the war wound down, so he was sent to Randolph Field for other duties. There he lived with another cadet who had gone to Yale University before joining the Army and said if he had to start over, he would study journalism. Before meeting the cadet, such a thought had never occurred to Mr. Campbell, but the idea resonated with him. He went on to pursue a career in journalism and eventually composed several novels. His most recent book, “Everything But The Kitchen Sink: A Writer’s Memoir,” chronicles his life from its beginning to his ninth decade. Mr. Campbell delved into the field as a reporter for The Knoxville Journal in 1947. After Air Force service the Korean War, for which he received the Bronze Star Medal, he became a reporter for The Nashville Banner. He continued to excel in Nashville, earning positions as a public relations executive with Metcalf Public Relations, an editor for Nashville Magazine, an advertising copy writer for Noble-Dury and Associates, and executive vice president of the Tennessee Association of Life Underwriters. In addition to penning stories, Mr. Campbell has served his community as a church historian and administrative board member of the City Road Chapel United Methodist Church. He was also president of the Tennessee Society of Association Executives and a member of the association executives advisory council of the National Association of Life Underwriters. Mr. Campbell is a member of the Military Writers Society of America, the Tennessee Writers Alliance, Mystery Writers of America and the American Society of Association Executives. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee in 1949. As a testament to his success, he has been included in the 27 th edition of Who’s Who in the World, as well as multiple editions of Who’s Who in America. W hen Chester Douglas Campbell formulates an idea, he pursues it as far and deeply as he can. Mr. Campbell got his inspiration for writing when he was in the Army Air Forces during World War II, stationed in San Antonio, Texas.
