A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 105 A s a school psychologist, Dr. Michael Thomas Dealy applies his psychological expertise in mental health, learning and behavior to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally and emotionally. Dr. Dealy made his home at the New York State Education Department in 1975 as an emergency medical technician. Currently a psychologist for the same organization, he has held many other positions, serving as a secondary school teacher and school psychologist, both positions he has held since 1974 and 1978. In addition to his responsibilities with the New York State Education Department, he also serves as a school psychologist for the New York City Board of Education, headmaster at Bayridge Preparatory School, an adjunct professor at Queens College, Fordham University, Pace University and New York University, and has his own private practice. A member of the American Psychological Association and the International Dyslexia Association, Dr. Dealy has authored “Martial Arts Therapy: The Groundbreaking Mix of Psychotherapy and Martial Arts,” as well as numerous books on emotional intelligence. He has also contributed articles to professional journals in psychology medicine. He is the recipient of numerous community service awards from the New York City Board of Education and the government. Throughout his career, he has reached many achievements, including being the first martial artist to perform martial arts in uniform and bare feet on a glacier in Antarctica and completing 25 New York City marathons. Dr. Dealy completed a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English literature, a PhD in psychology from Fordham University, as well as a Master of Science in school psychology from Pace University.
