A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 107 M otivated by the challenges associated with the engineering industry, Dr. Walter H. Delashmit Jr. has always exhibited dedication to his profession, which has propelled him to the forefront as a pioneer in his field. Since 2007, he has been an engineering consultant for Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, though he previously served the corporation as programmanager of seeker technology and software advancement, program manager of weapon seeker improvement, manager of signal and image processing, and principal system engineer. Having commenced his career as a technical staff member with the Northrop Grumman Corporation in 1969, he possesses nearly five decades of industry experience. Throughout his career, Dr. Delashmit has completed several independent research projects. In 2017, he reviewed patents on neural networks to determine the suitability of investment by a startup company for ORC International. From 2014 to 2015, he reviewed license plate recognition literature for the Neural Decision Laboratory, and in 2013 he researched the applicability of neural networks for an employee characteristic ranking system for Profiles International. Earlier in his career, he determined techniques for detecting scratches on smooth surfaces for the University of North Texas and Nine Sigma, having also researched the applicability of laser radar imaging for the inspection of railroad tracks for defects for Georgetown Rail. Dr. Delashmit holds a BEE from Christian Brothers University, an MEE from the University of Tennessee, and a DEng in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is a registered professional engineer in the states of Florida and Pennsylvania. He established theWalter H. Delashmit Endowed Scholarship in the department of electrical and computer engineering at Christian Brothers University in 2014. As a testament to his profound success, Dr. Delashmit has received myriad accolades from the Lockheed Martin Corporation, including the Intellectual Property Award, the Commendation Award and the President’s Performance Award.
