A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 119 A man of unwavering faith, Dr. Edmond J. Dunn has found great satisfaction in his decision to dedicate his entire life to helping others. Born in 1935, Dr. Dunn initially became interested in theology through the positive influence of his friends, some of whom were priests he greatly admired. This preliminary education proved useful during a later mission to Peru, where he taught at a school for the physically handicapped. During this time, Dr. Dunn was also chosen for the prestigious honor of directing the choir that performed for Pope Paul VI when he visited Colombia to attend the 39 th International Eucharistic Congress in 1968. After returning to the United States, Dr. Dunn completed a Master of Divinity through the Andover Newton Theological School and Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary. He went on to receive a PhD from Boston College in 1978. Dr. Dunn began his official affiliation with St. Ambrose University in 1975, when he accepted a position as an associate professor and spiritual director of the seminary department. Following 10 years of dedicated service, he was recognized as a professor and chairman of the theology department. Throughout his later years, Dr. Dunn authored numerous works, including “What Is Theology: Foundational & Moral,” which was published at the turn of the century. He was also a noted contributor to a column in a weekly Catholic newspaper in Davenport, Iowa, from 1984 to 2001. Although Dr. Dunn is now retired, he continues to serve as a leader in his community.
