136 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION D r. Myron D. Fottler has been in academia for over four decades, teaching in the areas of human resources management and customer service in health care, health care marketing, the use of information in health care decision making, stakeholder management, multiprovider systems, and corporate restructuring. From 1976 to 1983 he served in many positions at The University of Alabama, thenbecame the director of the PhDprogram inhealth services administration and a professor at TheUniversity of Alabama at Birmingham. In 1999 he settled at the University of Central Florida, beginning in administration as a program director and subsequently becoming a professor and executive director of the College of Health and Public Affairs. Throughout his career, Dr. Fottler has earned many awards, including Faculty Publisher of the Year from the American Academy of Medical Administrators, an Outstanding Service Award from the Health Care Management Division of the Academy of Management, and an Edgar C. Hayhow Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives. The highlight of his career was mentoring 60 doctoral students, supervising their dissertations, and participating in their career development. The founding editor of Advances in Health Care Management, he has served as an ad hoc reviewer of multiple publications and a member of many editorial boards. During his career, he published 28 books and 150 journal articles, and made 150 paper presentations at professional conferences. His most recent books are Handbook of HealthcareManagement (2015) and Fundamentals of Human Resources in Healthcare (2018). Since retiring in 2014, Dr. Fottler has served on the boards of two nonprofits: theUnitedWay citizens advisory committee for VolusiaCounty andEasterseals Northeast Central Florida. He hopes to make a geographical change to Sarasota, Florida, and become involved with other organizations there. His career is backed by a Bachelor of Science in industrial relations from Northeastern University, a Master of Business Administration in human relations from Boston University, and a PhD in business from Columbia University.
