A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 153 A pioneer in the field of gender inequality, Prof. Steven Goldberg is an accomplished sociologist and educator who has more than three decades of industry experience. He was a professor of sociology at the City College of New York, having also served as chairman of the department of sociology for 20 years. The recipient of a PhD from the City College of New York, Dr. Goldberg has been a prolific author throughout his career. He has written multiple books regarding gender inequality, race inequality and statistics, including 1973’s “The Inevitability of the Patriarchy,” which discusses the psychophysiological makeup of men and proposes that patriarchy may be biologically based, concluding that its existence can be attributed to the universality of the impact of hereditary factors on male behavior. Years later, Dr. Goldberg published a revised edition of “The Inevitability of the Patriarchy” entitled “Why Men Rule,” a book that refines his previous argument and shifts focus from anthropological evidence to citing examples of the workforce in contemporary Western societies. Additional books have also included “When Wish Replaces Thought,” “Fads and Fallacies in the Social Sciences” and “Mathematical Elegance: An Approachable Guide to Understanding Basic Concepts.” His works can be found in such prestigious publications as The Yale Review, the journal of the American Anthropologist Association, the American Journal of Physics and the International Journal of Sociology. In addition to his published works, he solved the historic “pickpocket ‘paradox’” of the death penalty debate. For more information about some of his writings, visit his website . (http://www.goldberg-logic.com/ ) Lauded by the likes of Charles Murray, author and political scientist, who referred to “Fads and Fallacies in the Social Sciences” as “the first book in the social sciences I have recommended in 18 years,” and theoretical analyst Catherine Hakim, who hailed “Why Men Rule” as “unassailable,” Dr. Goldberg has also been immortalized in the first edition of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
