204 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION D riven by a passion to alter the future of her country, Ann Kelly entered the field of academia with the intention of aiding students in their personal growth while simultaneously teaching them to tend to their own well-being, as well as that of the earth upon which they stand. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1977, she subsequently completed additional coursework with a number of academic institutions, including her alma mater, Webster University, The College at Brockport and the University of Missouri. She has since received a lifetime certification to teach kindergarten through eighth grade. Since 2005, Ms. Kelly has been an educator at Bishop DuBourg High School in St. Louis, Missouri, where she has also been the head coach of the robotics team on campus. Since the inception of the program in 2007, the robotics team earned the prestigious Engineering Inspiration Award in 2014 and the Outstanding Spirit Award in 2015. As a result of her unwavering compassion and dedication to her field, Ms. Kelly won the Woodie Flowers Outstanding Mentor of the Year Award in 2015. Most recently, the robotics team earned Second Place at the FIRST Robotics Competition inMarch 2018. To remain abreast of recent developments within her field, Ms. Kelly maintains affiliation with the National Science Teachers Association, Science Teachers of Missouri and the American Meteorological Society. She has also participated in the Maury Project for oceanographic studies with the American Meteorological Society and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in several capacities, including as a local team leader since 2000 and a workshop presenter since 1994. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to education, Ms. Kelly has been honored with several accolades during her impressive career. She won the Eastern Missouri Volunteer of the Year Award in 2012, the Heart of DuBourg Award in 2009, and the Shining Star Award in 2002. She was also included in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
