A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 207 A lthough his career is still in its infancy, Dr. Hyeong Kimhas already made significant strides within the field of dentistry. Since 2013, he has been the owner and chief dentist at Rego Park Dental Care, where he performs cosmetic dentistry and full-mouth rehabilitation, including fillings, periodontal disease treatment, dental implants, bridges and dentures, extractions, teeth whitening and root canals, among other services. Dr. Kim has continuously exhibited passion for his industry, treating each patient with the utmost care and professionalism. Alongside his primary role, Dr. Kim has been an assistant clinical professor in dentistry at his alma mater, the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, since 2012. Prior to beginning his career endeavors, he pursued formal education at the University of California, Berkeley, earning a BA in molecular and cell biology in 1997. Thereafter, he attended Columbia University, where he received an MA in biochemistry in 2000, a Master of Philosophy in biochemistry in 2001, a PhD in biochemistry in 2004, and a DDS in 2010. After completing his doctorate, Dr. Kim served as a postdoctoral research scientist in bacteria transcription at Columbia University, studying the mechanisms of survival in bacteria. Recruited by the dean of the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine as a basic science researcher in dentistry soon after, he received an opportunity to work part time as a research assistant and dental student, graduating from the program in only six years. After earning his DDS, he completed a residency in advanced education and general dentistry at Columbia University in two years. Dr. Kim has maintained affiliation with the American Society for Microbiology, the American Student Dental Association and the New York Academy of Sciences. A prolific author and co-author of multiple papers, he cites earning two master’s degrees and two doctorates as an incredible accomplishment in his career. Looking toward the future, he intends to continue providing patients with high-quality dental care and maintenance.
