344 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION D r. Akhouri A. Sinha has amassed 61 years of professional experience as a scientist. Born in Churamanpur, India, he earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Allahabad in 1954 and a Master of Science from Patna University in 1956. After earning both degrees, he lectured at Ranchi University for five years, and then migrated to the United States in 1961 before earning a PhD from the University of Missouri four years later. Dr. Sinha flourished in his career, serving as an assistant professor of biology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a senior scientist at the University of Minnesota. Currently, he is a research scientist at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center and a professor of genetics at the University of Minnesota. Throughout his career, Dr. Sinha has had great professors and a mentor, Harland W. Mossman, who have helped him pave the way to success. With research interests including characteristics of prostate cancer stem cells, the aggressiveness of prostate cancer, and cell proliferation and death, he has written articles in professional journals and utilized his expertise to advocate for concurrent estrogen in the treatment of patients with prostate cancer. His most significant achievement to date is having a mountain in West Antarctica named after him by the United States Geological Survey in honor of his trailblazing work from the early 1970s on animal populations in Antarctica. Dr. Sinha has been featured in the 57th through 63rd editions of Who’s Who in America, the seventh and eighth editions of Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and the 21st and 23rd editions of Who’s Who in the World.
