360 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION R obert T. Stumpff has more than five decades of experience in collegiate athletics, academic administration and public works administration. He most recently served as the director of public works for the city of College Park, Maryland from 2005 to 2018 and previously acted in multiple capacities for the University of Maryland, College Park between 1968 and 2005. At the university, he was the assistant director of general services in facilities management; assistant athletic director; and assistant, associate and acting director of the Maryland Student Union. He commenced his career as the assistant director of athletics. Mr. Stumpff holds a BS from the University of Maryland and a certificate from the University of Kentucky. He designed the first frontend loader trash truck with a tag axle in North America, a Heil 40cy body on a Mack chassis, to allow a tighter turning radius and the first two trucks built for the University of Maryland, which he cites as highlights of his career. In addition, he designed the first automatic side loader trash truck with a tag axle, built for the city of College Park, a Labrie 33cy body on an Autocar chassis. Equally passionate about his community, Mr. Stumpff has been an assisting minister at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulton, Maryland, since 1996, and has served on the board of directors of the M Club since 1970 and Maryland Recycling Network since 1997. He has also been involved with the Maryland Municipal Public Works Officials Association since 2005. Mr. Stumpff has accrued myriad accolades, including a proclamation from former Maryland Governor Robert E. Ehrlich; a President’s Distinguished Service Award from the University of Maryland’s president C.D. Mote Jr.; an M Club Award in Recognition of Outstanding Wrestling Publication; and a Charles Leroy Mackert Award. In 2016 he was honored for Outstanding Service to the Maryland Municipal Public Works Officials Association and a certificate from the Maryland Municipal League for his two years on the board of directors. Upon his retirement from the city, he received proclamations from Governor Lawrence Hogan and Mayor Patrick Wojahn. ROBERT T.
