A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 361 W ith more than six decades of experience, James G. Sullivan is a versatile businessman who has owned Jerry’s Barber Shop in Bad Axe, Michigan since 1963. Utilizing honesty, friendliness and integrity in every aspect of his business, he has found significant success in all of his endeavors. While taking part in this venture, he has also served such entities as Thumb Electric Cooperative, the Walbro Corporation, The Thumb Blanket, WLEW Radio Station, the United States Postal Service, and Primerica Financial Services. In addition, he has been a distributor for numerous water manufacturing/selling companies, including AlkaViva Distributor, Ionized Antioxidant and ASEA. Mr. Sullivan completed coursework at Central Michigan University, the University of Detroit Mercy and Highland Park Community College, and he served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. As a result of his valued service to his country, he was an elected president of the Michigan Armed Forces Veterans Club in 2011, having also been the assistant national secretary and treasurer. He was also the president of numerous other organizations, such as the Bad Axe Lions Club of Lions Club International, the Huron County Rural Letter Carriers Association, the Community Club and the 4-H Club. Subsequent to his retirement from the United States Postal Service in 1998, Mr. Sullivan joined GNLD International, which offers vitamin products for nutritional, personal and home use in more than 50 countries. Locally, he is a Eucharistic minister and a lector of the Sacred Heart Church. As a testament to his success, Mr. Sullivan was featured in National Profile Plus magazine in 2017, which recognized him for his myriad accomplishments in a biography. Married to Florence Marie Tack since 1959, Mr. Sullivan is the proud father of two children and the great- grandson of Flora MacDonald from Scotland. He enjoys gardening, golfing, swimming and fishing in his spare time.
