Talpe immigrated to the United States in 2011, the same year he established Fertagro Trading USA as owner and chief executive officer in Miami, Florida. Fertagro Trading USA is a privately held international marketer of agro-commodity products and services. Founded in 1921 in Belgium, Europe, it is currently present in 24 countries around the world. The company trades in frozen food; animal feed/nutrients; and field, foliar and specialty fertilizers, as well as raw materials for the industry. It has been involved in the manufacture, distribution, export and import of agro- commodities to overseas markets since 1991. The Miami office, used as a hub for developing existing business in Latin America, also provides financial and logistics services to its customers and is responsible for the origination of all commodities and sales to the region. Prior to this prominent role, Mr. Talpe was the chief executive officer of Nordinvest for nine years and a merchandiser for Cargill, Inc., for three years. Alongside his role with Fertagro Trading USA, he has served as the owner and director of NV Fernand Talpe since 2008, owner and chief executive officer of Croenen En Carlier NV since 2008, and owner and chief executive officer of Fertagro Trading EU since 2005. Most recently, he became chief executive officer of the American division of HealTech, a corporation that specializes in developing health care technologies and prototypes. Mr. Talpe holds diplomas in business and psychology from academic institutions in Belgium, and he is proficient in speaking Dutch, English and French.
