A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 399 R oger Stanley Wells grew up with a father who encouraged him to pursue his dreams and taught him to look at all angles of a problem to figure out a possible solution. He carried his father’s teachings with him, enjoying a successful career in the software engineering field. From 2005 until his retirement in 2016, he worked as a computer process specialist and data and system analyst for Boeing, an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures and sells airplanes, rotorcraft, rockets and satellites worldwide. He also volunteered at the company as a disaster responder. Before his tenure at Boeing, he held various software engineering positions at national and international companies. In 1989, he opened a private practice in Seattle, Wash., which remained in operation until 1992. Mr. Wells used his skills and experience to design a software program that transfers billing records for regional telephone companies. In addition to the success he has reached as a software engineer, he had the opportunity to serve as advisor to the chair of Cascadia Con, the eighth North American Science Fiction Convention, and as a member of the Executive of the Year 2000 Committee for Illuminet. He has been featured in Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the Media and Communication, Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who in the World. Since January 2018, Mr. Wells has volunteered at the Yakima Senior Center’s computer lab. He defines success as having the ability to see a problemandworkwith others to get to a plausible solution.
