A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 413 A lifelong lover of horses, Karen Wood was initially taught how to ride by a former Olympic competitor when she was just a child. This formative experience fostered within her a desire to one day turn her passion into a blossoming career. Following the birth of her third daughter, Ms. Wood was given the chance to turn her dream into a reality when she chose to open a horse facility. At the time, she was already very knowledgeable and involved with the industry as the president of the American Morgan Horse Association. Ms. Wood saw establishing her business as the first step toward improving the care standards of horses in terms of breeding and other methodologies. Now, many decades later, she takes great pride in having positively impacted the industry as a whole. Ms. Wood continues to be credited as a leader in the field, known for her tenacity and penchant for hard work. Ms. Wood is a certified horse therapist who also holds a JD from New York University. In recognition of her many years of dedication to the horse industry as a therapist and competitor based in New York and Florida, she was previously named Woman of the Year. Choosing to lead by example, she is also actively involved with the Tiffany Circle, a nationwide network of female leaders and philanthropists who provide substantial financial support to the American Red Cross. In recent years, Ms. Wood has branched out into the publishing sector as the author of “Circles” and “A Clear Destiny.” She has also dabbled in the creative realm as a sculptress and painter of oil and watercolor paintings. Presently Ms. Wood is working on a series that depicts animals in motherhood. When she isn’t busy overseeing the daily happenings of Graywood Stables, she enjoys spending her time on the coasts of Maine and South Carolina writing her novels.
