424 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION A native of Wayne, Pennsylvania, Dr. T.C. Price Zimmermann has more than three decades of experience in European history. Most recently serving as the Charles A. Dana professor of history at Davidson College from 1986 until reaching emeritus status in 1999, he previously held the role of vice president of academic affairs at the college for nine years. Prior to these appointments, he served Reed College in Portland, Oregon, in multiple capacities, including as a professor of history, chairman of the department of history, an associate professor and assistant professor. Interested in academia from an early age, Dr. Zimmermann was enthralled by the medieval and Renaissance periods, discovering that he desired to learn more about his passions through research and share that knowledge with students. He holds a BA from Williams College, a BA and MA from the University of Oxford, and an MA and PhD from Harvard University. While obtaining his education, he was a Danforth fellow in the 1950s and 1960s, a Fulbright fellow in Italy in the 1960s, and an I Tatti fellow of Harvard University in the 1970s. A prolific author, Dr. Zimmermann is a noted expert on Italian history, particularly the Italian Renaissance in the 16th century. He is the acclaimed author of “Paolo Giovio: The Historian and the Crisis of Sixteenth-Century Italy,” which was published in 1995 and translated into Italian in 2012. A contributor of myriad articles to professional journals, he also co-edited “Collected Works of Paolo Giovio” in the mid-1980s. As a testament to his professional success, Dr. Zimmermann has received several accolades, such as the Helen and Stewart F. Blake Philanthropy Award from Opera Carolina in 2015, the Presidential Book Award from the American Association for Italian Studies in 1997, and the Helen and Howard R. Marraro Book Prize from the American History Association in 1996. He was also featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World. T.C.
