436 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION LAW EDUCATOR Fordham University New York, NY W ith a strong belief that laws are very important to keep societies peaceful and fair, Yung Frank Chiang has maintained a career in the legal field for over five decades. He began his career in Taiwan as an associate for Yen & Lai Law Office in 1960 before relocating to New York, where he served as an editor for the Lawyers Co-Operative Publishing Company. In 1967 he began teaching as an assistant professor at the University of Georgia School of Law and continued in education, eventually serving as an associate professor and professor at the Fordham University School of Law. In addition to sharing his knowledge with students, he contributes articles to professional journals. Mr. Chiang is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the North America Taiwanese Professors’ Association and the Order of the Coif, and he previously served as an arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers. He earned a Bachelor of Laws from National Taiwan University in 1958, a Master of Laws from Northwestern University in 1962, and a Juris Doctor from The University of Chicago in 1965. Cheney slipped and fell on a patch of ice, causing him to hit his head and eventually lose consciousness. He was flown to a hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he spoke with a neurosurgeon who explained the intricacies of his head injury, thus inspiring the young Dr. Cheney to pursue a career as a brain researcher. After earning a PhD in pharmacology through the Stanford School of Medicine in 1971, he launched a career as a researcher and leader in the medical community. While working as the director of the Utah Initiative for Nanotechnology and Applications, Dr. Cheney was afforded the opportunity to meet several ambitious professors at The University of Utah. He went on to establish no fewer than five companies to help these professors commercialize their inventions, including TheraTarget, Inc., where he continues to serve as the president and CEO. The emerging biopharmaceutical drug delivery company has gained international recognition for developing a variety of polymer- drug conjugates that target cancerous tumors in a more effective manner by delivering anti-cancer drugs directly to the tumor site.
