A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 447 A respected scientist with expertise in executive management, Dr. Steven N. Frank enjoyed a varied career in infrared technologies, manufacturing, fuel cell development and solar energy prior to his retirement. Now, nearly a decade later, Dr. Frank has established himself as a highly regarded volunteer firefighter in his community and has been captain of Fairview Fire Rescue since 2009. Born in Red Oak, Iowa, in 1947, Dr. Frank developed a love for science early in life. Shortly after completing a PhD in chemistry through the California Institute of Technology in 1974, he began his affiliation with Texas Instruments Incorporated as a manager of fuel cell development. Throughout the next decade, Dr. Frank enjoyed a variety of positions with the global semiconductor design and manufacturing company before being appointed as chief engineer with Raytheon Commercial Infrared at the turn of the century. He later became chief technology officer of the company before he assumed the same role with L-3 Communications Infrared Products. A patentee in his field, Dr. Frank has refereed several scientific publications, including the Journal of Applied Physics. CAPTAIN Fairview Fire Rescue McKinney, TX STEVEN N. FRANK, PHD W illiam Herschel Ford is an educator who most recently served as a professor in the department of computer science at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, from 1974 until his retirement in 2014. Although retired, he remains chair of the department of computer science at the university, a position he has held for the past 44 years. He commenced his career as an assistant professor at Clemson University in 1972. Dr. Ford holds a BS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a PhD from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, for which he earned a fellowship through the National Science Foundation. Throughout his career, he has also authored 10 books, which he cites as a highlight of his career. He maintains membership with the Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education, Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Xi. In addition to developing software that will aid in teaching mathematics to students, Dr. Ford enjoys playing the bassoon for his community band and orchestra in his spare time.
