452 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION E mily Grosholz is an Edwin Erle Sparks Professor of Philosophy, African-American Studies and English at the Pennsylvania State University, where she has taught since 1979. She earned a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Chicago and a PhD at Yale University. Supported by various grants, her tenure at Penn State has been interspersed with research or teaching appointments at the University of Toronto; the University of Pennsylvania; the National Humanities Center; the Leibniz Archives in Hannover, Germany; the University of Cambridge; and the University of Paris. She has written four philosophical monographs, most recently “Starry Reckoning: Reference and Analysis in Mathematics and Cosmology” (Springer 2016), awarded the Fernando Gil International Prize in philosophy of science, and she edited seven collections of essays. She is also a poet and literary critic. “The Stars of Earth: New and Selected Poems” (Word Galaxy Press 2017) is her eighth book of poetry. She has been an advisory editor for The Hudson Review since 1984 and written reviews, essays and travelogues for various literary journals. Her book “Great Circles: The Transits of Mathematics and Poetry” is due to be published by Springer in 2018. After commencing his career as an associate, he rose to become a partner, a member of the management committee and a partner-in- charge. He also briefly taught as an adjunct professor of administrative science in the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University for two years. In recognition of his exceptional career in the legal field, Mr. Griffin was selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World. However, the highlight of his career was transferring 14 lawyers from the Houston office to a newly opened branch in Dallas. Licensed to practice in Texas, Mr. Griffin holds an Associate of Arts from Joplin Junior College (now Missouri Southern State University), a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a Master of Arts in accounting from the University of Missouri, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas.
