460 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION W ith a BA from Princeton University and an LLB from the University of Virginia, Robert Hiden served as a partner in Sullivan & Cromwell’s general practice group from 1968 to 1999, retiring there as partner and becoming of counsel. Mr. Hiden has extensive experience in securities, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory matters involving commercial and industrial companies, bank holding companies, financial institutions, broker-dealers and public utilities. He established the firm’s commodities, futures and derivatives group in the early 1980s and was heavily involved in advising a broad range of clients regarding off-exchange commodity and derivative products and transactions, including those involving securities and financial instruments. He is a former member of the executive committee of the New York State Bar Association’s Business Law Section and served as chair of the state bar’s committee on futures regulation. He has also been a lecturer at securities, commodities and derivatives seminars and has written frequently concerning derivative products. Mr. Hiden has edited and contributed articles to the University of Virginia Law Review and is an editorial board member of the Futures International Law Letter. Henry combined these interests in a career of teaching, writing and administration in the broad realm of public affairs. Dr. Henry holds a BA fromDePauw University and an MA and PhD from the University of Chicago. His early career was in Washington nonprofit organizations, Public Administration Clearing House and the Brookings Institution. At the latter he wrote a pathbreaking book on presidential transitions. For 14 years as a professor of government at the University of Virginia, he continued to write on public affairs, tutored many graduate students, consulted frequently with government agencies, and participated in government executive education programs. His final official position was for eight years as dean of a school of public affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University. Throughout his career, Dr. Henry took leadership roles in professional associations. Among other distinctions, he is a senior fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration. His retirement interests include the history of education for public service, writing family history and memoirs, and preserving an old farm in the Virginia mountains.
