A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 473 PROFESSOR (RETIRED) University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez Weston, FL W ith more than five decades of industry experience, Dr. Ann E. Macpherson-Sánchez is an expert in food and nutrition. She most recently served as a professor in the department of agricultural education at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez from 2003 until retiring in 2011. She also taught at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico and Cornell University in her former years. Although retired, she continues to serve the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior. Dr. Macpherson-Sánchez holds a BS in home economics education from the University of California, Los Angeles; an MNS in public health nutrition from Cornell University; and an EdD from the Universidad de Puerto Rico. She has authored numerous works related to nutrition and obesity and also served on the review board of the Journal of Nutrition Education since 2000. Dr. Macpherson-Sánchez received a Certificate of Recognition from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez and a statue of Don Quixote in recognition for conceptualizing and implementing the program MeNu. She is a former member of the American Dietetic Association. ANN E. MACPHERSON-SÁNCHEZ, EDD, MNS, BS C elebrating nearly six decades of dedication to the medical profession, Dr. Sandra J. Mackay is a well-known educator in the nursing field. Dr. Mackay has an expressed interest in diverse cultures, which ultimately drove her to complete a PhD in anthropology at Boston University in 1979. Since then, she has held a variety of clinical and faculty positions, most recently serving as an adjunct faculty member with Community Health Nursing from 2008 to 2017. She was also a professor of nursing at San Francisco State University from 1988 to 2008. Unsurprisingly, Dr. Mackay has found the greatest fulfillment in teaching students from diverse cultures. By doing her part to bridge cultural gaps within the practice of medicine, she hopes to improve health care as a whole, for both patients and practitioners. Although she is now retired, Dr. Mackay is very proud of many of her former students, especially those who have gone on to earn doctoral degrees and find success in their own clinical careers.
