A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 477 D r. Lea Stevens McChesney has compared and contrasted cultures and observed different group relationships for over 30 years. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Bard College, a Master of Arts from Wesleyan University, and a Master of Philosophy and PhD from New York University. At the start of her career, Dr. McChesney served as an exhibitions administrator for the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology at Harvard University. From 1999 to 2010, she shared her expertise on ethnology while teaching at the University of Missouri-Kansas City; Kansas State University; The College at Brockport, State University of New York; and the University of Texas. She presently serves as a research associate for the Peabody Museum and curator of ethnology for the Maxwell Museum at the University of New Mexico, positions she has held since 2005 and 2014, respectively. She has been a consulting curator, chief curator and curator of many exhibitions, and has served as an editor of the Journal of Anthropological Research. Dr. McChesney has received many honors, including the Dean’s Faculty Recognition Award from the College of Language, Literature and Social Sciences at the University of Toledo in 2014. McCarty has dedicated 38 years to ministry. From 1956 to 1962 Dr. McCarty was a pastor for the First Baptist Church in Switz City, Ind., before serving at First Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, Mo., and Susquehanna Baptist Church in Independence, Mo. In addition to serving in the church, he also taught as a professor at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary beginning in 1967 and at Golden State Baptist Theological Seminary from 1981 to 1987. His vast experience includes writing many books, including his most recent, “Hallowed Be Thy Name,” and serving as an editor of five volumes of “Key Resources,” 16 volumes of the Broadman Leadership Series, and “The Practice of Ministry: A Sourcebook.” Dr. McCarty is affiliated with the Association for Theological Field Education, the Institute of Theological Reflection, and Fellowship in Service Guidance Directors.
