A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 481 M ahpareh Mostoufizadeh practiced medicine as a pathologist for over four decades. Growing up in a family of doctors, it was only befitting that she would follow in their footsteps. She earned a doctor of medicine from Tehran University and began a residency in pathology at St. Vincent Hospital, affiliated with the University of Massachusetts Medical School. After completing her residency, she continued her medical career with fellowships in gynecologic pathology and perinatal and placental pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, respectively. Dr. Mostoufizadeh served as a staff pathologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for six years. During this period of time, she also held a teaching position at Harvard Medical School. She moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she held the position of director of laboratories at Jefferson Hospital from July 1987 until her retirement in June 2018. She also held a teaching position as a clinical assistant professor of pathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. During her career, Dr. Mostoufizadeh shared her expertise as a contributor of articles to many publications in her field. DIRECTOR OF LABORATORIES (RETIRED) Jefferson Hospital Jefferson Hills, PA MAHPAREH MOSTOUFIZADEH I nfluenced by her father, who was a survivor of the Armenian genocide, Dr. Leona Lousin Mirza learned to value education from a formative age. She had been interested in mathematics since childhood and earned a BA in mathematics from North Park University, as well as an MA and PhD in education from Western Michigan University. She has since become certified in computer studies and is a specialist in elementary curriculum and administration. Dr. Mirza is a longtime professor of mathematics at North Park University, having served in this role for the past 49 years. During this time, she also chaired the department of mathematics and statistics for nearly a decade. Throughout her career, she has found the most rewarding moments to be working with students develop a proficiency in mathematics and helping them to succeed in their studies. She has also reveled in finding ways to make her courses interesting and relevant. As a testament to her success, Dr. Mirza received the Fred Flener Award from the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics in 2015 and was named Woman of the Year by the Armenian International Women’s Association the same year.
