484 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION A ndrew Eduard Ott’s passion for a career in law was ignited when he was a young boy. His father, who had his own business, got him interested in resolving the company’s legal issues, which inspired in Mr. Otto a desire to help people who couldn’t afford lawyers. He began his career as a contract attorney for the Exxon Valdez oil spill litigation case on the plaintiff class action committee from 1989 to 2008. This case became his career highlight, as the verdict ruled that the Supreme Court was responsible for the $5 billion punitive damage jury award. He was instrumental in helping develop the distribution plans for various claimant categories for his representation of the municipalities of Cordova, Seward, Kodiak Island Borough, Ouzinkie, Port Lions, Larsen Bay and Old Harbor. Currently Mr. Otto helps the Kodiak community by handling cases in criminal law, family law, business law and estate planning. He also serves as the legal advisor for Kodiak Teen Court, a local program that provides youth with court experience. Martin O’Connor has taught students about the production, consumption and transfer of wealth for over 20 years. To prepare for his career Dr. O’Connor earned a Bachelor of Science in physics and a Master of Arts in sociology from the University of Canterbury, a Master of Philosophy in economics and a PhD in economics from the University of Auckland, and a Diploma of Profound Studies from the Institute of Economic and Social Development Studies. He began his career in 1989, utilizing his educational background as a lecturer of economics at the University of Auckland before leaving the institution six years later to become a team leader with the Centre d’économie d’Economie d’Ethique Pour l’Environnement Développement. Dr. O’Connor is the founder and president of the Association ePLANETe Blue and a professor of economics at University Versailles St-Quentin-en-Yvelines. His contributions to the field earned him the Hayward Fellowship from the New Zealand Foundation for Research Science and Technology. He has been featured in the 27th through 33rd editions of Who’s Who in the World.
