494 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION H ailed as a pioneer in the artistic community, Dr. Jane Schuyler is well-known for her interest in the cabala and its impact on the iconography of the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling. With more than four decades of experience as a fine arts and art history educator, she has written extensively on the subjects, publishing two articles inWallace’s “Michelangelo: Selected Studies in English.” Dr. Schuyler is currently working on a book entitled “Michelangelo and Cabala: Cabalistic Influence on the Iconography of Michelangelo’s Sistine Ceiling.” The necessary research behind this publication was supported by a PSC- CUNY Research Award, which Dr. Schuyler was selected to receive in the 1990s. As the first person in her family to earn a PhD, Dr. Schuyler completed her formal education at Columbia University in 1972. She went on to enjoy a celebrated career with the City University of New York, culminating with her role as a professor. Now honored as a professor emerita of fine arts at York College, Dr. Schuyler has enjoyed growing as a Renaissance art educator by networking with other art historians and teachers from around the world. Mr. Schiff’s family was always involved in investment banking, so it was befitting of him to follow in their footsteps. After receiving a Bachelor of Engineering from Yale University, he began his professional career as a trainee for JP Morgan Chase & Company, formerly Chemical Bank New York Trust Company. He served with JP Morgan for three years before becoming an analyst for Madison Fund Inc., for a year. In 1963 he settled at Kuhn, Loeb & Co., where he was an associate, general partner, vice chairman, and managing partner, a position he has held since 1993. An avid believer in giving back to the community, he founded The Schiff Foundation, a charity that supports medical programs, youth and social service agencies, museums, education, and animal welfare organizations. Mr. Schiff serves as a member of the advisory boards of the Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy and Venture Capital Fund of America Group, as well as a partner of Rabbit Hollow Partners.
