502 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION W ith a background in pharmacology, Dhiren Thakker has amassed over three decades of professional experience in the field. Dr. Thakker began his career as a research investigator for the U.S. FoodandDrugAdministration. From1984 to1996heheldseveral positions at Glaxo, Inc., now GlaxoSmithKline, including section head, department head and director. Since 1996, he has served the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy as an associate dean and professor. Dr. Thakker has shared his knowledge as a co-editor of two books and a contributor to over 165 publications. He remains a fellow of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, The American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics, the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Chemical Society and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). Dr. Thakker has achieved much in his career, including receiving the Sato Memorial Award from the Japanese Pharmaceutical Society and the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Institute of Chemical Technology. He earned a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Mumbai, amaster’s degree in pharmaceutical chemistry fromColumbia University, and a PhD fromThe University of Kansas. Teem Jr. chose to build his career in the financial sector. Drawing upon his considerable business experience and accounting knowledge, Mr. Teem assumed the role of executive vice president of Citizens South Bank in 1983, later obtaining similar positions with related banking institutions. In 2012, he retired as the executive vice president and secretary of Citizens South Banking Corporation in Gastonia. In recent years, Mr. Teem has enjoyed having more time to pursue his interest in genealogy and world history. He is recognized as a member of several lineage societies, including the Sons of the American Revolution and the National Society of the Sons and Daughters of Antebellum Planters. A graduate of UNC Charlotte, Mr. Teem also holds a certificate, diploma and degree of distinction from the Institute of Financial Education at Chicago. Since the beginning of his career, he has been recognized as a certified consumer credit executive, as well as a certified teacher and licensed real estate broker in the state of North Carolina.
