A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 503 H aving grown up a “Marine Corps brat,” Kim Trainor Davis is used to change. In fact, she embraces it. However, even the most confident people are sometimes cautious about making pivotal life decisions such as moving to a new city or embarking on a new career. A self-described born-again Texan, Ms. Trainor Davis had no reservations about living out the rest of her life in the Lone Star State, but it took a huge leap of faith for her to establish her own public relations business in 2005. The recipient of a BA in journalism from Texas Tech University, she started out as a print reporter in the ‘80s before being recruited by her alma mater’s communications and marketing department. She was intrigued by the fast-paced news environment and invigorated by the prospect of gaining experience and forging national connections while executing media-savvy strategies. Now at the helm of Nomiss Communication, she helps attract attention to her clients’ efforts in a number of industries, including health care, education and politics. By surrounding herself with positive, forward-thinking people, Ms. Trainor Davis hopes to continue experiencing professional success while diversifying her services. OWNER, PRESIDENT Nomiss Communication Lubbock, TX KIM TRAINOR DAVIS C urrently a professor of natural resource engineering, Dr. Earnest William Tollner has served in various capacities at University of Georgia since 1980, including assistant professor, associate professor, professor, and director of graduate programs and research in civil engineering. One of the first in his field to use an X-ray tomographic scanner devoted solely to agricultural research tasks, he continues conducting pioneering research into the use of vegetative filter strips for sediment control and developing water resources in Africa and Central America. Outside of his work in the classroom, Dr. Tollner generates questions for the Agricultural Engineering PE exam, which he has done since 1996. He also holds an affiliate membership with the Institute of Ecology, participates in an ASCE-NRCS task force to revise the hydrology section of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and acts as dean of students of the Student Judiciary Training Program. Dr. Tollner earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in agricultural engineering from the University of Kentucky and a PhD in agricultural engineering from Auburn University. He attributes his success to persevering, showing up, and finishing the job.
