504 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION D r. Annie Truong entered pharmaceutical science due to a desire to serve her community and has never regretted a moment of her career. The recipient of a PharmD from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, she has since 2007 been a pharmacist manager for Biocare Pharmacy, where she helps patients receive affordable medication and serves as a guide for those who are unsure of their treatment modalities. Equally passionate about civic outreach, Dr. Truong has been a sponsor for Disabled Veterans and Widows Relief Association. A native of Vietnam herself, she has increased cultural awareness and preventative care within the Asian-American community and has participated in local health fairs to benefit Vietnamese neighborhoods. Dr. Truong received a Certificate of Appreciation for renaming streets in local Vietnamese communities in 2016 and was named Pharmacist of the Year by Trademark Publishing, Inc., in 2018. Earlier in her career, she received the Medical Professional of the Year Award, the Houston Cam On Anh Award, and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Disabled Veterans and Widows Relief Association. Truax has been serving Mississippi State University in a number of capacities since 1977. As the James T. White Chair of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the Bagley College of Engineering since 2006, he has also been head of the civil engineering department and a professor of civil engineering since 1996. He earned a B.S. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Mississippi State University. Dr. Truax is a diplomate in water resources engineering and environmental engineering, and he has been a registered professional engineer in the state of Mississippi for more than 35 years. In recognition of his exceptional accomplishments, he was honored as a Professional New Faces of Civil Engineering Mentor by the American Society of Civil Engineers from 2014 to 2016. Mississippi State University also presented him with the R.M. Scholtes Civil Engineering Teaching Award in 1997. Dr. Truax, a fellow of the National Society of Professional Engineers, has received more than $13 million in grants from government and private organizations.
