Ms. Doherty specializes in securities, capital markets, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions, working with both Canadian and international clients. A member of the Canadian Bar Association, Ms. Doherty earned a Bachelor of Education at McGill University in 1970 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence at Osgoode Hall Law School in 1980. She has since been admitted to practice law in Ontario. Alongside her professional pursuits, she has acted as a foreign company advisor for direct investment and business establishment in Canada, as well as 11 countries across the globe. She also held the position of chair of the Infrastructure Roundtable in 2005. In June 2014, Ms. Doherty was honored as a panelist for “Don’t Let the Tail Wag the Dog” at the Corporate Counsel and Compliance Exchange in Leesburg, Virginia. She has additionally accrued several accolades throughout the course of her impressive career, including Lawyer Monthly’s Women in Law Award in 2014 and recognition as Canada Female Lawyer of the Year by ACQ5 magazine in 2017. Notably, she has also been listed in “Women in the Lead,” a directory of Canadian women whose expertise distinguishes them as candidates for corporate board appointments. Ms. Doherty, who attributes her success to her intrinsic ability to connect and build trust with her clientele, served on the securities advisory committee of the Ontario Securities Commission and is an associate of the American Bar Association.
