A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 157 A s a senior silicone chemist, Dr. Bridgette L. Gomillion-Williams works with and leads interdisciplinary teams to develop and commercialize new silicone products and improve existing products and processes. She also identifies and adapts new or existing adhesive and sealant technologies in innovative and creative ways for use in new products. Dr. Gomillion-Williams became interested in her profession after majoring in chemical engineering and working with The Dow Chemical Company. She earned a Bachelor of Science in polymer chemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a PhD in polymer science from the department of materials science and engineering at Clemson University. She was taught by her great- grandmother that nothing is free, and to work hard to achieve goals. While with Saint-Gobain for eight years, Dr. Gomillion-Williams worked with soft polymer foams, manufactured parts for medical devices, conducted on-site research into production problems, supported research and development teams and manufacturing functions, and wrote and executed protocols. Her greatest career achievement was inventing the continuous flow chaotic mixer, which she patented, in 2005. She is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Fiber Society, the American Chemical Society and the Society of Plastics Engineers. She was awarded Professional of the Year and honored as an Industry Expert in 2017. Dr. Gomillion-Williams attributes her success to her natural curiosity. She hopes to continue pursuing new opportunities to broaden her expertise in materials science and also aims to teach at the college level in the coming years. BRIDGETTE L.
