166 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION A native of Detroit, Michigan, Dr. John-Cyril P. Hanisko has always been drawn to the study of science as a way to understand the world. Now holding a PhD in physics, which he received from Wayne State University in 1988, he has been recognized for numerous achievements in his fields of focus. The greatest among these is producing innovative electronic designs for new products, as well as corrections and upgrades for existing products, in the automotive, hospital and industrial fields as a consultant and designer. Dr. Hanisko has also obtained several patents, including a patent for an electrical control apparatus for internal combustion engines, a patent for a sequential injection timing apparatus, and a patent for voltage controlled oscillator having ratiometric and temperature compensation. One of his earliest innovations was named Design of the Year by EDN Magazine in 1977. Known for his extraordinary work ethic, Dr. Hanisko began building a career as an engineer prior to completing his undergraduate education. After rising through the ranks of various local companies, he was eventually recognized as a technology specialist with Eaton in 1994. Dr. Hanisko has served as a consultant for SCAT Systems in Southfield, Michigan, since 2003. Throughout his career, he has endeavored to share his industry knowledge and expertise by contributing articles to professional journals. Reflecting on a career that has spanned several decades, Dr. Hanisko attributes his success to his innate curiosity for the field, as well as his drive to learn more. He has been recognized as a senior member of the IEEE. Outside of his official appointments, Dr. Hanisko is always looking for ways to help others. He has been actively involved with the National Tax Limitation Committee and the National Right to Life Committee in Washington, D.C, in addition to being a member of the Catholic League, a supporter of the Blinded American Veterans Foundation, a pro bono tutor to students, and a volunteer table waiter at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen. In recognition of his humanitarian efforts, Dr. Hanisko was most recently selected to receive a Sudan Relief Award in 2017. JOHN-CYRIL P.
