A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 173 I nspired by two grade school teachers when he was a child, Dr. Robert L. Heichberger fell into his profession naturally, having a natural affinity for education and instructing others. He earned a Bachelor of Science from SUNY Buffalo State and a Master of Education and Doctor of Education from the University at Buffalo. After beginning his career as a principal in the East Aurora Union Free School District, he soon ascended to the role of assistant dean to the acting dean of professional studies at the State University of New York at Fredonia. Dr. Heichberger remained with the university for more than four decades before retiring from his role as professor of educational administration in 2006, when he reached emeritus status. Since 2009, he has served as a distinguished professor for Capella University. Alongside his primary endeavors, Dr. Heichberger has been a frequent consultant in the field and a lecturer on topics of educational administration. In order to remain aware of recent developments within the industry, he maintains affiliation with the National Council for Higher Education, the American Association of School Administrators, and Phi Delta Kappa International, of which he served as president for three years. A prolific author as well, he has written eight books throughout his tenure, most recently penning “The Happy Pattern Road” and “We Will Be Friends Forever,” both published in 2017. He is currently writing his ninth novel, which is inspired by his daughter’s fruitful family. As a testament to his professional success, Dr. Heichberger has been honored with several accolades throughout his career. The recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Fredonia College Foundation, he also received the Distinguished Service Award from Phi Delta Kappa International. He was also honored by the latter as Educator of the Year. In addition, an endowment, the Heichberger Family and Scholars of Leadership Endowment, was named in his honor. Among the highlights of his career, Dr. Heichberger is most proud of the accomplishments his students have achieved. Looking toward the future, he intends on completing his book and enjoying time spent with his family. DR. ROBERT L.
