A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 183 D r. Noel Holtz attended New York UniversityandearnedaBA in1965before receiving an MD from the University of Cincinnati in 1969. He interned at the Cincinnati General Hospital the same year, then completed a residency in internal medicine and neurology at Emory University for a total of four years between 1970 and 1976. Since 1977, he has been serving in a private practice in Marietta, Georgia and as a clinical associate professor at the Emory University College of Medicine. In addition, he is a medical director at WellStar Health Systems, a role he has held since 2006. A diplomate of the American Board of Sleep Medicine and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Holtz has also been an adjunct professor in thedepartment of nursingat Kennesaw State University since 1997 and was the first chief resident of the neurology department at the Emory University College of Medicine from 1975 to 1976. He formerly served as a consultant for the Georgia Medical Care Foundation for Neurology. An expert in stroke and sleepmedicine, Dr. Holtz is affiliated with WellStar Cobb Hospital, WellStar Douglas Hospital, WellStar Kennestone Hospital, WellStar Paulding Hospital, and theWellStarWindy Hill Hospital. In 1985, he co-authored “Conceptual Human Physiology.” He has maintained affiliation with the American Academy of Neurology and the Georgia Neurological Society, for which he served as president in the early 1990s. As a testament to his success, Dr. Holtz received two awards from WellStar: the Excellence in Leadership Award and the Safety and Quality Award. He has been included in nearly 30 editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who’s Who in the World. Dr. Holtz has been happily married to Carol Sue Smith for 50 years and has three children and 13 grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, playing tennis and watching football.
