A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 197 D r. Magali Jerez has over 25 years of experience as an administrator and professor, teaching adults for whom English is a second language. Dr. Jerez previously served as chair of the world languages and cultures department at Bergen Community College, where she brought the number of languages taught from four to 12. She always wanted to understand how she could advance the department on a global level and dedicated her time at the college to doing so. As a woman in today’s world, she feels that her commitment to the job contributed to her success. In 2011, she was named a Top Female Executive and appointed deputy director, general and secretary general by the International Biographical Centre. Dr. Jerez feels that teachers have a tremendous impact on the lives of students and works to ensure that educators are given the tools needed to facilitate a prosperous learning environment and mentor students. She is a firm believer in education and emphasizes its importance to the younger generation of women entering the workforce. Throughout her career, she has accomplished many great things, but the most gratifying aspect of her work was witnessing the learning process for students of new languages. She also wrote musical lyrics that were translated from Spanish to English and from French to Italian for the International Festival of Choral Music that took place in Paris in 2003. She has utilized her experience and expertise as the author and co-author of several books on education. Dr. Jerez’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in languages, a master’s degree in counseling and psychology, and two PhDs. In her spare time, she enjoys reading.
