A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 223 D r. Stephen Joseph Leone has been a professor andprogramadministrator at Westchester Community College since 1989 and 2001, respectively, as well as a professor at Rockland Community College since 1993. As such, he focuses his attention on teaching and course development. In addition to his primary endeavors, Dr. Leone has been serving the Verizon Next Step Program as an English curriculum coordinator since 2001 and the Nyack Fire Department as a computer consultant since 1993. A former founding member of the YMCA Youth Services of Rockland County and former chairman of the Nyack YMCA board of managers, Dr. Leone became involved in his profession after developing relationships with the YMCA and the Boy Scouts of America. Having taught classes when he was younger, he realized he had a passion for teaching and administration and subsequently pursued a career in the field. He attended La Salle University in 1975 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and education before receiving a Master of Arts in English from Villanova University in 1982. Concluding his formal education, he obtained a Doctor of Arts in English from St. John’s University in 2006. He has since become a certified educator in the states of New York and Pennsylvania. Dr. Leone maintains affiliation with the Modern Language Association, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the Conference on College Composition and Communication. In light of his accomplishments, he was honored with the Star Award and the Next Step Recognition of Service Award from the Verizon Next Step Program in 2006 and 2015, respectively. He has also been profiled in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education and Who’s Who in the World. DR.
