A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 233 A s an educator, Marika Marlow is responsible for the academic, social and emotional growth and development of children in her care. For more than three decades, Ms. Marlow has dedicated herself and her expertise to helping students with learning difficulties. Her passion for the arts is what drove her to pursue this career, as she utilizes her skills to successfully engage and empower children to become successful, articulate and resilient lifelong learners. She has held various roles as a deputy, acting principal and counselor, aerobics and fitness instructor, mentor, dance and visual arts teacher, student festival choir trainer, music and drama teacher, and literacy intervention teacher. Since 2011, she has served as a middle school teacher and representative of the Department of Education and Child Services at Mount Barker Primary School. Ms. Marlow attributes her success to the desire to achieve instilled by her parents, who arrived in Australia as refugees from Hungary after World War II. Throughout her career she has experienced much success, but the highlight thus far was being chosen as a participant in the 30th Anna Stewart Memorial Project in 2015. She completed a Women in Leadership development program, which is federally funded in partnership with the Australian Education Union, as well as a leadership development program with the Department of Education and Child Development in South Australia. To prepare for her career, Ms. Marlow received a Diploma of Education from Murray Park CAE (now the University of South Australia). Looking to the future, she hopes to continue contributing to educational programming and training. She also plans to apply for a professional curriculum position and become more active in her union while nurturing the next generation of educators.
