240 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION U pon enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1958, Philip E. McClure was assigned to participate in aircraft maintenance training. After spending three years working on B-52 bombers, upon his discharge from the military, he attended the Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology and subsequently received a diploma. After his graduation, he was hired as a maintenance technician by the Remmert Werner Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri, where he spent the next two years. Mr. McClure spent the rest of his career in South Bend, Indiana, and was employed as a maintenance technician for Associates Corporation for one year. From 1970 until his retirement, he was the owner and president of Ni-Cad Systems, Inc., and he simultaneously serves as a consultant for Facet Aerospace in Jackson, Tennessee, since 1981 and the owner and president of FBO Holdings LLC since 1982. A contributor of multiple exhibits to the Lawrence D. Bell Aircraft Museum in Mentone, Indiana, Mr. McClure is most renowned for his design of engine oil filter systems for helicopters that operated with the Allison 250 series engine, which have since been used worldwide. Always a proponent for expanding upon new ideas and enjoying the process of completing a project, he frequently attracts the awe of others regarding how much work he has devoted to his many endeavors. As a testament to his success, Mr. McClure was highlighted in the 20th edition of Who’s Who in the Midwest. A flying, tennis and golf enthusiast, he plans on acting as a caretaker for his wife and fulfilling the duties of a terrific husband in the near future.
