A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 241 C ertified as a movement teacher by High Scope and as a Level III music and movement teacher by the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, Dr. Ann McFarland turned her passion for music into a career that has spanned over two decades. Her professional career began after she earned a Bachelor of Music at Susquehanna University and a Master of Music from Temple University. One of her first teaching roles was in the Hempfield School District, where she served for a year before obtaining a similar position with the Conestoga Valley School District from 1992 to 1999. She transitioned to postsecondary education as an assistant professor of music education at West Chester University from 1999 to 2010 and then became an associate professor of music education until her retirement in 2015. In 2006 she received PhD in music education from Temple University. She has also been a presenter in the field, having given speeches at international and national conferences for music educators. Dr. McFarland is a member of the International Society for Music Education, the Society for Ethnomusicology, the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, and the National Association for Music Education, which was previously known as the Music Educators National Conference. She is an accomplished professional whose achievements include presenting at annual conferences of the International Society for Music Education in Melanesia, Italy, China, Greece and Brazil. Dr. McFarland has contributed articles to professional journals and served as a pianist for the McFarland Piano Trio. She attributes her success to her perseverance, which allowed her to meet her goal of earning a doctorate in music.
