24 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION C arl J. Pernicone graduated summa cum laude from Iona College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1980 and then proceeded to attend the Fordham University School of Law. Coming from a family of lawyers, he was no stranger to the field when he began working for Wilson Elser, LLP, where he has been a partner for more than 25 years. He is a third-generation lawyer who always held an interest in the law, public speaking and politics. In addition to being a partner, he also serves as co-chair of the firm’s insurance and reinsurance coverage practice. He has extensive knowledge of insurance, reinsurance coverage, toxic torts, environmental liability, and workplace chemical exposure to substances like asbestos, lead and silica. He is also responsible for handling complicated environmental coverage issues and assists insurers facing claims in areas such as climate change and clean energy technologies, and energy production. In addition to practicing law, Mr. Pernicone has also authored many publications, such as a ruling on specific causation in toxic tort cases. Mr. Pernicone prides himself on being passionate about his work, extremely detail- oriented and responsive to his colleagues while staying current with emerging issues that can impact society. He is always working to make sure that his clients have the answers they are looking for and that he and his firm are doing all they can to solve the clients’ problems. Mr. Pernicone does this by ensuring that his own personal values align with those of his clients. His commitment to the law has been recognized numerous times, particularly with his naming as one of the top attorneys in the New York metro area for 2015 and 2016, and being named to a list of New York Super Lawyers in 2006 and from 2009 to 2015.
