A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 273 D arryl Boyd Neill, an esteemed educator who has been with Emory University for the entirety of his career, has been a Goodrich C. White professor of psychology and behavioral neuroscience since 2011. He has simultaneously served the university as a faculty member for the graduate program in neuroscience and a faculty member in neuroscience and behavioral biology since 1985 and 1997, respectively. Previously he was a faculty member for the Center for Behavioral Neuroscience, chairman of the department of psychology, director of the psychobiology program, a faculty member in the graduate program in molecular therapeutics and toxicology, and a faculty member in the graduate program in pharmacological and physiological sciences. Prior to these appointments, Dr. Neill served as an associate, assistant and instructor of psychology between 1971 and 1986. He was also a collaborative scientist at the Yerkes Regional Primate Research Center for a decade and a faculty member for the graduate program in molecular and systems pharmacology for two years. In terms of his civic involvement, Dr. Neill was a board president and volunteer for Nicholas House in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Neill holds a BS in biology from Eckerd College and a PhD in biopsychology from the University of Chicago. He is affiliated with the Society for Neuroscience and received a fellowship from the Association for Psychological Science. He was also highlighted in the 65th through 70th editions of Who’s Who in America. Dr. Neill has received several accolades throughout his career, including the Philip Lee Award through Eckerd College, the Emory Williams Distinguished Teaching Award from Emory University, the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Emory Student Government Association, and the Fox Award from the Office of Disability Services at Emory University. He also received the TCP Champion Award through the Transforming Community Project at Emory University and the Crystal Apple Teaching Award from the Emory College Student Government. Dr. Neill was an invited speaker at the Emory University convocation and a recipient of graduate fellowships through the National Science Foundation.
