38 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION W ith over 40 years of professional experience, Eleanor B. Alter has been recognized as one of the nation’s top family law attorneys. Ms. Alter, who came from a family of lawyers and was exposed to the field at a very young age, has had much success representing business owners, attorneys and their spouses, as well as high-profile clients like Madonna. Among her many accomplishments is co-founding the boutique family law firm of Alter, Wolff, & Foley LLP in 2016. While practicing law, she has imparted her knowledge to future lawyers as an adjunct professor at the New York University School of Law and the University of Chicago School of Law. She also lectures nationally and internationally. Ms. Alter began her extensive career as an attorney for the Office of the General Counsel of the insurance department for the state of New York in 1964. Two years later she took on an associate position at Miller & Carlson, and then progressed to become partner at Marshall, Bratter, Greene, Allison & Tucker from 1968 to 1974. She was a partner at Rosenman & Colin from 1982 to 1997 and at Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman LLP from 1997 to 2016. Ms. Alter’s professional affiliations include the American Law Institute, the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She has also contributed many articles to various legal journals in the field. Ms. Alter completed a Bachelor of Arts with honors at the University of Michigan, a Bachelor of Laws at Columbia Law School in 1964, and postgraduate work at Harvard University. ELEANOR B.
