46 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION A s a psychotherapist with a solid background in research and education, Dr. Eleanor Z. Avinor understands the importance of effective communication. Shortly after launching a private mental health care practice in 2007, Dr. Avinor was inspired to develop a tool that would allow therapists and counselors to better understand their clients’ core issues. Thus, KEG Cards were born. Short for “Keys to Emotional Growth,” these two-sided cards encourage personal reflection by combining the principles of cognitive behavioral therapy and redecision therapy. Each card features original artwork on one side and a series of guiding questions on the other side, and may be reviewed with or without the assistance of a therapist. Long before she became a co-developer of KEG Cards in 2008, Dr. Avinor received formal training as a marriage and family therapist. She was inspired to enter the field of psychotherapy after working as a teacher and counselor in a crisis center and realizing she wanted to do more. Now holding a Master of Science in psychotherapy and a Doctor of Education, she has also completed additional coursework in psychotherapy and redecision therapy since the turn of the century. While pursuing formal education, she continued to work as a researcher and teacher with the University of Haifa between 1972 and 2009. In private practice, Dr. Avinor is highly regarded for her empathy and ability to connect with her clients. However, she takes the greatest pride in helping a diverse range of people overcome their mental roadblocks and forge their best path forward. Known for her experience in the areas of psychology, mental health, counseling and psychological assessment, Dr. Avinor has written numerous works in an effort to share her knowledge with others. Her most recent publication is “Shirley: ‘There is Not Enough,’” which was included in the Psychology and Behavioral Science International Journal in 2017. Dr. Avinor has been featured in several publications, including Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and multiple editions of Who’s Who in the World. ELEANOR Z.
