A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 479 W ith two locations just a short drive from one another, Brookline Liquor Mart is a wine and spirits retailer in a class all its own. Run by Lisa B. Miller Ryan, whose family has owned the business for four generations, the store has a reputation as a neighborhood staple and a source of fine wines, rare spirits and even specialty beer items. Ms. Miller Ryan leads a staff of extremely knowledgeable, capable employees, who are available to answer any questions customers might have or make suggestions for the perfect wine pairing. Taking things just a step further, she also hosts tasting events where connoisseurs provide their expertise on wines grown in different regions of the United States, France, Italy and Spain, among other countries. Though she received an MBA from the Simmons College School of Management, much of her success is due to her strengths in sales, communication and customer service, which have helped bring in repeat business year after year. Having learned under her father, who opened Brookline in 1933, Ms. Miller Ryan and her son are carrying the family legacy with pride well into the 21st century. Mehta is a physician with more than five decades of experience who became involved in his profession because of his desire to help people. As a cardiologist, he is responsible for diagnosing, preventing and treating diseases in the cardiovascular system, which includes the heart and blood vessels. An expert in clinical and noninvasive cardiology, he evaluates patients and performs a number of routine procedures for the Queens Long Island Medical Group. He is also involved in constructing a development center in the Indian village of Bhikhanpur that will provide the community with education on a wide variety of subjects. As a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Mehta attributes his success to his hard work and dedication. Looking to the future, he intends to continue practicing at the Long Island Jewish Forest Hills hospital. Dr. Mehta, who earned a Doctor of Medicine from Darbhanga Medical College, has written and published more than eight books in Hindi.
