A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 507 B illy Douglas Whittaker is an ordained pastor who has more than 45 years of experience and has been serving his community since 1964. Since beginning his career as a pastor with Jackson Grove Baptist Church, he also led First Baptist Church in Sturgis and Murray, Kentucky; Downtown Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida; and Glasgow Baptist Church in Glasgow, Kentucky, until his retirement in 2010. From 1988 to 2007, he was president of Clear Creek Baptist Bible College, which he considers a highlight of his career. A former missionary with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in the Philippines for three years, Dr. Whittaker holds a BA from Western Kentucky University, an MDiv and DMin from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and an MA from Union College. Dr. Whittaker has authored, co-authored and edited several books, having formerly been a longtime columnist for the Western Recorder newspaper for 19 years. He was also the president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention in 1980. He considers his profession to be a calling from God and has dedicated his life to ministry. BAPTIST MINISTER Glasgow, KY BILLY DOUGLAS WHITTAKER B efore embarking on a career in pharmaceuticals, Oliver Wendell Welch intended to become an English teacher, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Texas Tech University and a Master of Arts from Columbia University. After graduating, Mr. Welch met someone in the pharmaceutical industry who introduced him to a district manager. Shortly thereafter, he began an extensive training program through Warner-Lambert, where he also served as a pharmaceutical representative. After two years with the company, he was transferred to New Jersey and took on responsibilities as the supervisor of marketing research and manpower development. In 1972 he became the manager of corporate development for the Roche Diagnostic Corporation, formerly known as the Boehringer Mannheim Corporation. He continued to progress professionally in positions with Biomedical Data Co. and Sterling-Winthrop Inc. until his retirement in 1994. A year later he served as a consultant for Sanofi Winthrop Inc. Mr. Welch is a member of the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society, the Drug Information Association and the Order of St. John of Jerusalem.
