A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 103 C arol Lyn Davis has been the manager and administrator of the White Settlement Historical Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, since 2006, having previously held numerous sales, research and design roles throughout the state of Texas beginning in 1977. The White Settlement Historical Museum was founded by the White Settlement Historical Society in July 1991, and it preserves artifacts and historical accounts of pioneer families in the White Settlement area from its inception to the present day. Always interested in research, historical records, genealogy, 19th-century American history and art, and geology, Ms. Davis spends her workdays performing a plethora of tasks such as conducting research, reorganizing exhibits, developing and cataloging new items, organizing events, answering phone calls and leading tours for visitors. With a passion for her industry, she has continually proven herself to be a detail- oriented, reliable and organized individual. Ms. Davis holds a BFA in studio arts and an MA in American studies from Texas Christian University. A history buff from a young age, she found that her interests were piqued due to the influence of her late mother, who was fascinated with the Roman and Viking periods of history. As the daughter of a soldier stationed in West Germany, she and her family often visited Rhine River castles, Roman ruins, historical museums, zoos and churches. To this day, she honors her father and grandfather’s service by attending the biannual remembrance event at the Royal Flying Corps Commonwealth War Graves Memorial site in Greenwood Cemetery. An affiliate of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, Friends of the Royal Flying Corps, and the Tarrant County Historical Society, Ms. Davis was honored with a Certificate of Recognition from the North Texas WWI Centennial Commemoration Committee in 2017, the William E. Jary Junior Memorial Award from the Tarrant County Historical Commission in 2014, and a Certificate of Appreciation from the White Settlement Historical Society in 2009. In her spare time, she enjoys researching family trees and contributing to the preservation and documentation of community history for future generations.
