A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 123 W hile some individuals might see the real estate industry as a lackluster means of human survival and development, Stephen Elkins prefers to look at it as an opportunity to help people achieve their dreams. His endless passion for his line of work has continually motivated him to seek more experience and knowledge in an effort to better assist his clients. A native of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Mr. Elkins grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of the state. Though he initially worked for a large mining company, he was ultimately driven to assist with the planning and development of the Steamboat Ski Area from 1970 to 1994. Throughout these two decades, Mr. Elkins was actively involved in the planning, development and construction of several high-profile projects, including an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones golf course; condominium complexes; and hotel, commercial and ski area expansions. As such, he became well versed in the nuances of the general real estate business and ultimately chose to take his career in that direction. Following two years as a partial owner of Lake Catamount Realty, Mr. Elkins became the sole owner in 2000. The firm later merged with Prudential Steamboat Realty, which was transferred to Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty in 2014. A licensed real estate broker in Colorado and Arizona, Mr. Elkins has found great fulfillment in utilizing his breadth of expertise for the sole benefit of his clients. Looking to the future, he has plans to oversee several development projects of his own and intends to continue working with an individual who recently bought a large piece of property from him. Located next to the Steamboat Springs Airport, the land would be perfectly suited for a flying air park and extended runway, which would allow private jets to land at the airport.
